How far is the nearest Yellowstone National Park entrance? 

The Northeast Entrance is the closest—approximately 1 mile (about a 2-minute drive) from Silver Gate and 4 miles (about an 8-minute drive) from Cooke City.

Where is the nearest grocery store? 

You can get very basic provisions in Cooke City at one of the gas stations or at the general stores in Cooke City and Silver Gate. (The general stores are only open seasonally—typically June through October.)

During the warmer season (typically June throught October), the nearest grocery store is in Cody, WY (~80 miles / 1.5-hour drive) over the Chief Joseph Pass. You can also get to a grocery store in Red Lodge, MT (~110 miles / 2-hour drive) over the Beartooth Highway.

During the colder season (typically November through May, when all other routes are closed), the closest grocery store is in Gardiner, MT (52 miles / 1.5-hour drive) through Yellowstone National Park. (Keep in mind that driving through YNP can often take longer than expected due to traffic and wildlife.)

This information is dependent on season, weather, and road closures, so be sure to plan ahead if you are wanting to access the nearest grocery store!

Where is the nearest gas station?

There are two gas stations located in Cooke City. The gas stations are 3 miles (~5-minute drive) from Silver Gate. Both gas stations are open year-round.

How do we check in?

You will receive a message through your booking platform from our hosts the day before check-in. This message will contain all the information you need to access your vacation rental.

Is there central AC or Heat?

There is no central AC in any of the cabin rentals. In this cooler mountain environment, AC is generally not necessary.

Amphitheater Mountain Cabin – There is radiant floor heat on the ground level and a pellet stove (pellets are provided) on the second level that heats the living room, dining room, kitchen, and loft.

Pilot Peak and Index Peak Cabins – Both of these cabins have central heat and a gas fireplace in the living room.

What type of essentails are provided? 

We provide all of the typical essentials in our vacation rentals, including:

  • Bedding and pillows

  • Towels

  • Hair dryer

  • Shampoo/conditioner

  • Body wash

  • Basic cooking utensils

  • Pots and pans

  • Dishes, cups, mugs, bowls, and cooking trays

  • Coffee makers, ground coffee, and coffee filters

  • Spoons, knives, and forks

  • Cutting board

  • Wine opener

  • Oven, microwave, stove, refrigerator, and dishwasher

  • Basic cooking spices

  • Paper towels and toilet paper

  • Basic cleaning supplies

The Amphitheater Mountain Cabin also has a guest washer and dryer with detergent provided.

Be sure to bring your own personal belongings and trip essentials, such as phone chargers, toothbrush, clothes, etc.

Note: Food is not provided.

What is the parking situation like? Is there room to park a trailer? 

All of our cabins have designated parking areas. Each area can accommodate one trailer.

Pilot Peak Cabin and Index Peak Cabin share a parking area.

Please plan accordingly if you are bringing a trailer or additional vehicles.

Is there a fire pit and grill?

Each of our vacation rentals has a private fire pit on the property for you to enjoy! Firewood can be purchased at a nearby gas station or general store. We provide a few outdoor patio chairs, but you may want to bring a couple of camp chairs to sit comfortably by the fire.

None of our rentals have a grill. However, all rentals are equipped with a stove, oven, and microwave for your cooking needs.

Can you sled out of Cooke City? Can you sled out of Silver Gate?

Yes! You can sled from both Cooke City and Silver Gate.

  • Sledding is accessible right from Main Street in Cooke City.

  • The Bannock Trail connects Cooke City and Silver Gate (approximately 3 miles apart) and can be used to sled in either direction.

  • You can reach the Bannock Trailhead directly from any of our cabin rentals.

Are the rentals Ski In/ Ski Out? 

Ski-In / Ski-Out Access from Our Cabins

  • All of our rentals offer Ski-In / Ski-Out on cross-country skis.

  • From Silver Gate, take Monument Ave, cross Soda Butte Creek, and ski to the Bannock Trailhead. From the trailhead, you can ski east to Cooke City or West into Yellowstone National Park. 

  • Pilot Peak & Index Peak Cabins: Use a small back road most of the way, then briefly hop onto the highway to reach Monument Ave.

  • Amphitheater Cabin: Located directly on Monument Ave—just take a right from the driveway.
